Brooklyn Carreta brand identity + neon design
Branding + Neon design package for Brooklyn Carreta, a newly built food cart pod and bar in Southeast Portland’s Brooklyn neighborhood. This design package included a logo, color palette, typography, icon, neon signs, and custom-lettered signage.
The Brooklyn Carreta logo communicates high quality, affordability, fun, and community. The letter styles are future-forward while also echoing the optimism and playfulness of a vintage midcentury style. The rose resonates with our hearts, while referencing health and the outdoors, a vital aspect of the food cart experience — the ability to eat outside in the open.
The logo was designed to be flexible in 2 main lockups: centered, including the rose; and a left-weighted logotype without the rose. We also made an “oversized” logo version for the exterior of the building, for increased long-distance legibility. The rose icon was designed in a 3 styles for different usage applications, and functions as a social media avatar. Bernina Sans was chosen as the typeface for use in design materials such as websites, menus, parking signage, and elsewhere. Bernina was used as the basis for the “Brooklyn” wordmark in the logo, so it naturally pairs well with the logo.
