Neon Speaks branding

Neon Speaks Festival and Symposium is an annual celebration of historic neon in San Francisco, bringing together neon aficionados of all stripes — tube benders, sign makers, preservationists, historians, and neon enthusiasts. I worked closely with festival directors Randall Ann Homan and Al Barna (of San Francisco Neon) to develop the brand for the festival and many of it's components, including the logo, speaker profiles for social media, a printed program, email signatures, merchandise, the Neon Curiosity Lounge, and several animated GIFs for social media promotion. With a mix of deco capitals and a jolly upright script, the logo is animated, styled after neon signs (of course), and was made to be flexible to work in various formats and limited color palettes. For the brand's typeface, P22 Underground was chosen for it's simplicity and mid-century connotations, evoking the era when the neon sign industry was at the top of it's game. The festival's inaugural run was a completely sold out event.
