Neon Speaks branding
Neon Speaks Festival and Symposium is an annual gathering of neon advocates, historians, and fanatics. I worked closely with festival directors Randall Ann Homan and Al Barna (of San Francisco Neon) to develop the brand for the festival and many of it's components, including the logo, speaker profiles for social media, a printed program, email signatures, merchandise, and several animated GIFs for social media promotion.
With a mix of deco capitals and a jolly upright script, this logo is animated, styled after neon signs (of course), and was made more flexible to work in various formats and limited color palettes.
A similarly branded event, the Neon Curiosity Lounge, is a newly featured component of the festival. Here we retained the art deco block capitals of the Neon Speaks logo as a visual tie-in.
For the brand's typeface, P22 Underground was chosen for it's simplicity and mid-century connotations, evoking the era when the neon sign industry was at the top of it's game.
This festival's inaugural run was a completely sold out event.
